St. Thomas, said to his fellow disciples:- " Let us also go to die with him "
Greetings and
Prayers in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ
Welcome to the Traditions
established by our Lord Jesus Christ and His Apostle St. Thomas in India. Live,
the law set down by Scripture, and follow the Tradition of the earliest of
Christ's Apostles and of the Master Himself. Our Creed, Liturgies, Traditions
and Teaching are the oldest extant interpretation of the Holy Teaching of Jesus
Christ. The Church of our Lord Jesus Christ is a communion of Churches. Unity
and diversity are two essential dimensions of the Church. Unity needed in
faith, Sacraments and leadership. There is diversity in the form of Worship,
Spirituality, Theology, Discipline, Traditions, etc.
Christianity in India is as old as world
Christianity. There are 25 million Christians in India which is just below 3%
of the total population of the Country. Diversity of Christians is noticeable:
Syrian Christians, Knanaya Christians, Goan Christians, Tamil Christians,
Anglo-Indians, Naga Christians, etc are the main. They differ in language,
social customs and economic prosperity. Christians play a decisive role in the
fields of education, social work and even in politics.
Kerala is the cradle of Christianity in
India. In the educational field, the work of the Christians of Kerala has been
noteworthy and it is due to their efforts together with that of the government
and of other religious and cultural groups that Kerala became the leading state
in India for literacy.
St. Thomas was one of the disciples of Jesus.
He is also known as Didymus, which means the Twin. Thomas means Twin in Aramaic
and Didymus means Twin in Greek. He is generally known as the Doubting Thomas
since he refused to believe the resurrection unless he has verified it himself.
His acts are not found in the Acts of the Apostles.
Indian Orthodox TV
(www.orthodoxtv.in) and Indian Orthodox Radio (www.orthodoxfm.com) 24×7 web
channels are at the center of a powerful broadcasting web channels of Indian
Orthodox Church – a reality that is carrying Oriental Orthodox theology and
tradition into the new millennium. Indian Orthodox TV provides quality programming, ranging from Convention
broadcasts, addresses by the Metropolitans, Scholars, Laity, Clergy, news,
interactive discussion groups, study classes, worship instruction, Cultural
programming including documentaries, liturgical broadcasts, music, and special
event programming, Academic classes for laity, Interviews, Seminars, Lectures,
including existing tape and video series, popular speakers and lecturers,
freelance film makers, live conventions, and other content providers. Indian
Orthodox TV is a tool to connect our members of all Oriental Orthodox Churches
all over the world and to inform pilgrims in search of truth. We utilizes a
capstone communications platform that far exceeds any other medium in the
history of mankind: the world wide web.
The Internet and new media
technology have transformed the way human beings interact with one another and
exchange knowledge. The technology is present, the world is waiting, and we
have a mandate to fulfill the words of St. Matthew 28:19-20. “Go therefore and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you.” Discipleship is relationship, community, neighborhood,
education, teaching, experiencing, seeing and hearing the life and sacraments
of the Church. For the first time in a
millennium, a new world of people in darkness are using the Internet to search
for the light we have. Orthodoxy has the truth. We must use the tools at hand
to spread the light of this truth throughout the world-wide-web.
The Web offers real time audio
and video, printed materials, e-mail, chat rooms, audio and video library; the
opportunities are boundless. Indian Orthodox TV offers the chance for every
human being to see and hear from their spiritual leaders. Even our Holy Church does
not put the Holy Scripture at the center of all truth. God Himself is at the center.
And we know Him not only through what He said, but what He says now, and the
experience of how He says it through the sacraments, through the life of the
church, through seeing and hearing our fathers and mothers, brothers and
sisters in Christ.
Indian Orthodox TV is the premier
state-of-the-art medium for communications. Christ spoke of the senses in St.
Mathew 13:16: “But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they
hear.” This is the vision for Indian Orthodox TV: to bring Oriental Orthodoxy
to a sight and sound generation.
We believe that this portal would be timely
and very much in keeping with the spirit of His words " All May be one
" That would be a step toward Christians recognizing fellow Christians
across denominations. We hope this work would whisper to Indian Christians of
various denominations that " they are birds of the same feather flying
different ways to one destination where they would flock together " : Our
Lord Jesus Christ, inspired us, emboldened us when problems loomed, and guided
us past all abstract and solid impediments to a gratifying finish. So we invite
you all to join us in the vision to connect those of the Christian Orthodox
faith through communications and new media networks that cross all lines of
ethnicity and society to bring Orthodox Christians together in closer unity
with the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Join us in loving our new
neighbors in this worldwide neighborhood that is the Internet on the web.
"To err is human and to forgive
is divine" "Please forgive...!!!
May Almighty God Bless You all
