formed in 1982. HG. Mathews Mar Bernabas was the
first Bishop(1982-1995) H H Mar Pahomios was the assistant Metropolitan till
2002.

H. G. Mathews
Mar Theodosius
H. G. Mathews Mar Theodosius was born on 15th
September 1955 as the eldest son of Mr.P.M.George and Mrs. Aleyamma George of
Punchayil family in Pandankary, Edathua, Alapuzha. His Grace is a member of St.
Mary's Orthodox Church, Padankary.
His
Grace’s early education was in Thalavady. After passing the S. S. L. C. Examination
His Grace became a member of Perunad Bethany Ashram. Graduating in English
literature as a student of Baselius College Kottayam, His Grace joined the
Orthodox Theological Seminary, took his B. D. degree and was ordained as a
priest in 1982.
His
Grace took M. A. in History from the
University
of
Kerala and B.Ed. from
Sardar
Patel
University. His Grace was
the Principal of Bethany St. John's Higher Secondary School during the period
between 1987 and 1996. His Grace had been the President of Perunad YMCA for a
long time. His Grace is the Secretary of the Sanyasi-Sanyasini Sangham of the
Malankara Orthodox Church.
From 1996
His Grace has been the Superior of Bethany Ashram. His Grace has also served as
the Manager of Angamuzhy Orthodox Centre and member of the Ecumenical Trust. His
Grace was ordained as Ramban at Parumala on 4th December.

FOUNDATION
The St.Dianysius
Orthodox Foundation (S.D.O.F) was formed on 18th June 2009 in a meeting held at
St>George Orthodox Valiya Pally under the chairmanship of H.G Mathews mar
Theodosius, Metropolitan of Idukki Diocese. The then Principal Secretary to H.H.Bava
Thirumeni, Rev.Dr. Sabu Kuriakose has lead a seminar on the topic, St.Vattasseril
Thirumeni and the heavenliness of Orthodox Church.

Level Inauguration
The
inauguration of Idukki Diocesan level programmes in connection with the Secure Family Month
Celebrations of Orthodox Church was held on 6th October 2009 by Smt.E.S Bijimol
M.L.A at St.Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Kunkiripetty. H.G Mathews mar Theodosius,
Metropolitan of Idukki diocese presided over the meeting.
A class
on Family Renovation was lead by Rev.Fr.Dr.Sabu
Kuriakose.
A
family get together was held at St.George Orthodox Church, Thengakkal on 20th
October 2009. Shri.Moncy Varghese, National Trainer of J.C.I led a class on Family
Beautification.
St.Dianysius
Chapel, Springwalley
A
chapel of St.George Orthodox Church, Thekkady named St.Dianysius Chapel is
constructed at Springwalley near Thekkady in Idukki Diocese. Rs.50000/- received
from the central committee as contribution to construct the chapel.

GRACE
SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY
Grace
Social service Society is a charitable organisation functioning in Idukki
Diocese. The main objective of the society is to form Self Help Groups and
Credit Unions for better financial security of people belongs to lower and
lower middle class through micro financing.
S.H.Gs (Self Help Groups)
There
are 93 S.H.Gs functioning under the society as on March 2010 which are
affiliated to the Navajyothi MOMS of Orthodox Church. The society provides
financial aid for treatment of poor patients, educational loans, loan for
cattle rearing, financial support for house building and special support to
small scale entrepreneurs.
Grace
Friends & Endowment
A
special fund has been mobilised through contribution from the well wishers of
the society. The interest of such amount is given as educational loan to poor
students.

ICON
plays a very vital role in the activities of Grace Social Service Society of
Idukki Diocese by giving financial assistance in its projects.
There
are mainly 3 projects under function with the aid of ICON.

ST.GREGORIOSE CHARITY we have been receiving financial assistance from Texas St.Gregoriose
Orthodox Church for construction of house and medical treatment for the poor.
Balavedi
A
Balavedi (Students Forum) named Zion Balavedi is functioning at Valiyathovala
Church. There are 16 students in this unit who deposit a small amount as
savings for their studies. Educational aids have been provided to these
students.
