Seminaries and Catholicate Centres

1. St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Bhilai:

On 14 September 1995, Metropolitan Dr. Stephanos Mar Thevodosios started the St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary in Bhilai. Its objectives is to give training to the students in theology to serve for the various parishes of outside Kerala dioceses and creating missionaries for mission work in North India. Training is being given for activities for village uplift in Macodia, and Bhilai and for translating the syriac order of worship into English and Hindi. The steps to shift the Bhilai Seminary to Nagpur were taken up on 9 December 1997 as per the decision of the Holy Synod. Dr. Stephanos Mar Thevodosios (Principal), Fr. 2. St. Kuriakose Seminary, Kundara:
St. Kuriakose Seminary in Kundara was started in 1915. His Holiness Baselios Geevarghes II Catholicose planned the activities of the southern dioceses residing in Kundara. Its objectives were imparting training to priests, uplift of the Dalit community and setting up educational institutions. Since 1982 Ramban Cyril is the Manager.

3. Kottapuram Seminary, Kottarakara:
In 1898, Parumala Geevarghese Mar Gregorios founded the Kottapuram Seminary in Kottarakara. It is adjacent to the Kottapuram St. Ignatios Church. Fr. K. Zacharia is holding the main responsibility.

4. Thazhakara Seminary:
The Thazhaekara Seminary was started on 25 Dhanu, 1038 by Idychandy Kathanar of Vadakethalackal in Thazhakara Parambil. It strives at protecting the Orthodox beliefs and setting up of educational institutions. This was known as Malankara Syrian Seminary. Fr. Thomas Yohanan is the Manager.

5. Sophia Centre, Kottayam:
Metropolitan Dr. Paulose Mar Gregorios founded the Sophia center in 1974 under the auspices of the Orthodox Theological Seminary. This center conducts seminars and conferences on various subjects related to the socio- cultural- theological fields. The meetings of the Holy Synod are also coducted here. The offices of the Prathyasha counselling centre and divyabhodhanam (Catechism) is also at Sophia centre. Fr. Dr. K.M. George and Fr. Dr. John Panicker are serving as its president and as programme Secretary respectively.

6. Threesai Shubaho Centre, Pampakuda.
Threesai Shubaho centre is a monement in memory of the Konatt Malpans of Pampakuda. His Holiness Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews II Catholicose laid the foundation stone in 1992. On 6 January 1997 the Governor of Maharashtra P.C. Alexander inaugurated it. Konatt Abraham Malpan I Memorial Rehabilitation Center for the Blind, Konatt Yuhanon Malpan Memorial Medical Center, Konatt Mathan Malpan Memorial Syriac Research Centre, Konatt Abraham Malpan II Memorial Community Hall are the other institutions run by this centre. Director: Fr. Johnson Abraham Konatt.

7. Mar Epiphanios Centre, Adoor:
Metropolitan Mathews mar Epiphanios started the Mar Epiphanios Center under the aegis of the Kollam diocese. On 22 November 1997, His Holiness Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews II Catholicose consecrated and inaugurated the same. Thereafter the office of spiritual organizations, conference hall and counseling center has been started. The Mar Epiphanios Centre is near St. Thomas church at Kunnamcode at Adoor. Fr. Geevarghese of Chengamanad Ashram is the manager.

8. St. Gregorios Shantinilayam Counselling Centre,
Pathanamthitta.
Metropolitan Philipose Mar Eusebios took the initiative to found the St. Gregorios Shantinilayam Counseling Centre, which is housed in the Daniel Mar Philexinos memorial mandiram under the aegis of the Thumpamon diocese. His Holiness Mathews II the Catholicos inaugurated it on 22 May 1997. Fr. V.M. Abraham is the Director.
